The 4 basic rules of pickleball

1. Court Layout

Rectangular court split by a net.

 

2. Serving Rules

-Served diagonally from the right court to the opponent’s left service box

-Ball must land inside the opponent’s diagonal service court

-Paddle contact point must be below the waist

 

3. Double Bounce Rule

-Receiving side must let the serve bounce once before returning

-Serving side must let the return bounce once before hitting back

-After both bounces, players may volley (hit the ball mid-air)

 

4. Scoring

-Only the serving team can score points

-Server switches courts after each point won

-Receiving team gains the serve when they win a rally

-11-point game; win by a 2-point margin
